Our approach to personal data protection

LexoraPath aims to handle personal data responsibly and transparently. This policy describes our intended approach in the context of India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and applicable rules, to the extent they apply to our activities and are in force. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy, Terms and Conditions, and Cookies Policy.

Section 01

1. Introduction

LexoraPath.com (“LexoraPath,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) respects the privacy of individuals and is committed to handling personal data responsibly.

This Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect digital personal data in connection with our legal information website and lawyer and attorney directory.

This Policy is intended to describe our approach to personal data protection in the context of India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (“DPDP Act”) and applicable rules, to the extent they apply to our activities and are in force.

This Policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy, Terms and Conditions, and Cookies Policy.

Section 02

2. Scope of This Policy

This Policy applies to personal data processed through LexoraPath.com, including information relating to:

  • Visitors who browse our website or legal information articles.
  • Lawyers and attorneys who contact us about directory listings.
  • Law firms and their authorized representatives.
  • Individuals who contact us with questions, feedback, or other enquiries.
The applicability of the DPDP Act depends on the circumstances of the processing and the Act’s territorial scope and commencement provisions. This Policy does not represent that every provision applies to every visitor or that every provision is already in force.
Section 03

3. Personal Data We May Collect

Depending on how you interact with our website, we may collect the following categories of personal data.

A. Lawyer and Attorney Information

If you contact us to request a paid directory listing, we may collect:

  • Full name and professional title.
  • Law firm name, where applicable.
  • Professional email address and business telephone number.
  • City, state, and country.
  • Areas of legal practice.
  • Professional biography and years of experience, if provided.
  • Bar admission, licence, or other professional credential details relevant to a listing.
  • Professional photograph, firm logo, and website URL, if provided.
  • Listing plan, payment confirmation, correspondence, and publication status.

B. Enquiry and Communication Information

If you email us or otherwise contact us, we may process your email address, name, message, and other information you voluntarily include in your enquiry.

C. Technical and Usage Information

Depending on the tools and settings used on our website, technical information may include IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, approximate location derived from technical data, cookie identifiers, and website interaction data.

We will only describe and process these categories in accordance with our actual website setup and applicable requirements.

Section 04

4. Why We Process Personal Data

We may process personal data for purposes such as:

  • Responding to enquiries and requests.
  • Communicating with lawyers and attorneys about listing plans.
  • Reviewing professional information submitted for a directory listing.
  • Preparing, managing, and publishing approved listings.
  • Displaying relevant professional and contact information on the appropriate city or location page.
  • Confirming payments and maintaining business records.
  • Maintaining website security and preventing misuse.
  • Improving website performance and user experience.
  • Meeting applicable legal, regulatory, accounting, and recordkeeping obligations.
  • Operating analytics, cookies, or advertising services where these are enabled and lawfully used.

We will not knowingly use personal data for purposes materially different from those communicated to the relevant individual without an appropriate legal basis or required permission.

Section 05

5. Lawyer Registration and Public Directory Listings

LexoraPath.com does not currently offer an online lawyer registration form. Lawyers and attorneys interested in a listing must contact us by email.

We may ask for relevant professional information so that we can review the proposed listing and discuss available plans. The plan duration, price, payment instructions, and other applicable terms will be communicated by email before payment.

After payment confirmation, we may review the submitted information and, if accepted, publish the lawyer’s approved profile and contact details on the relevant city page.

Important: Information intended for public display may become visible to website visitors and may be copied, indexed, cached, or shared by third-party services. Lawyers should only provide information they are authorized to submit for publication.

Payment alone does not guarantee acceptance or publication. A paid listing does not, by itself, mean that LexoraPath independently verifies, certifies, or endorses a lawyer’s qualifications or services.

Section 06

6. Consent and Other Applicable Grounds

Where the DPDP Act or another applicable law requires consent or another specific legal basis for processing, we will follow the requirements applicable to the relevant activity and at the relevant time.

Where consent is relied upon, individuals should be given relevant information about the data being processed and the purpose of processing, as required by applicable law.

Where legally applicable, individuals may withdraw consent using the available communication method. Withdrawal does not necessarily affect processing that has already lawfully occurred, and we may need to retain certain information where required or permitted by law.

We will not treat this Policy alone as a substitute for any separate notice, consent, or other step required by applicable law.

Section 07

7. Sharing and Disclosure of Personal Data

We may disclose personal data, where appropriate and lawful, to:

  • Website hosting, maintenance, security, and technical service providers.
  • Payment service providers for payment processing or confirmation.
  • Analytics and advertising providers, if these services are enabled.
  • Professional advisers and service providers who assist with our operations.
  • Government authorities, courts, regulators, or law enforcement where disclosure is legally required or permitted.
  • Other parties where the individual has requested or authorized the disclosure, or where otherwise permitted by applicable law.

We do not intend to sell personal data as a standalone data product. However, certain advertising or analytics technologies may involve data sharing or processing governed by separate legal requirements. Please consult our Privacy Policy and Cookies Policy for further information.

Section 08

8. Data Retention

We retain personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including managing enquiries and listings, maintaining payment and business records, resolving disputes, protecting website security, and meeting applicable legal obligations.

Retention periods may differ depending on the type of information, the status of a listing, legal requirements, and operational needs.

When information is no longer required, we will take reasonable steps to delete it, erase it, or otherwise handle it in accordance with applicable law and our retention practices.

Section 09

9. Data Security

We take reasonable measures appropriate to our operations to protect personal data against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, loss, or misuse.

These measures may include access restrictions, appropriate security settings, software updates, and safeguards provided by our service providers.

No website, email system, or electronic transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Please avoid sending passwords, payment card details, government identification numbers, or other highly sensitive information through ordinary email unless specifically necessary and an appropriate secure method has been arranged.
Section 10

10. Individual Rights and Requests

Subject to applicable law, individuals may have rights concerning their personal data, which may include requesting access to relevant information, correction or updating of inaccurate information, deletion where applicable, withdrawal of consent where processing is based on consent, or raising a grievance.

The availability and scope of these rights depend on the applicable law, the circumstances, and any relevant legal exceptions.

To submit a privacy-related request, please email info@lexorapath.com with the subject line “DPDP Privacy Request.”

Please explain your request and provide enough information for us to understand it. We may request reasonable additional information to confirm your identity or authority before acting on a request. Please do not email passwords, payment card information, or unnecessary identity documents.

We will review and respond to requests in accordance with applicable requirements and timelines.

Section 11

11. Children’s Personal Data

LexoraPath.com is intended for individuals seeking legal information and lawyer directory services, not for children to independently submit personal data.

We do not knowingly seek to collect children’s personal data in violation of applicable law. If you believe that a child has submitted personal data to us improperly, please contact us so that we can review the matter and take appropriate action where necessary.

Section 12

12. Cookies, Analytics, and Advertising

Our website may use cookies or similar technologies for website functionality, analytics, security, and advertising, depending on the services enabled.

Third-party providers, including analytics or advertising providers, may process information through their technologies under their own policies and applicable requirements.

For more details, please read our Cookies Policy and Privacy Policy. Where required, we will implement appropriate consent or preference mechanisms before enabling relevant technologies.

Section 13

13. Third-Party Websites and Services

LexoraPath.com may contain links to external websites, including law firm websites, professional resources, payment services, and other third-party platforms.

We do not control the privacy practices of external websites. Please review their respective privacy policies before sharing personal data with them.

Where applicable law requires specific disclosures, safeguards, or other measures for cross-border processing, we will take the steps required for the relevant processing activity.

This Policy does not state that the DPDP Act applies to every international visitor. The applicable legal requirements depend on the circumstances of the processing and the scope of the relevant laws.

Section 15

16. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy when our services, data practices, technology, or legal obligations change.
